Doing this - having exactly one less summon than you do kills - adds a huge multiplier to your XP (up to x50, applied after difficulty modifiers and battle amulets), and you can only do it on the pylon levels (D10, J10, J4, D4, and G7). Ideally, summon one less monster than you’ve killed, then remove all gems that aren’t in range of the pylon and set what’s left to attack Structures.
